We are all endowed with a creative spirit. How you and I express ourselves in each moment is our original art and cannot be reproduced by anyone else. Sometimes it is inspiring and beyond words; sometimes, not so much. Either way, it’s worthy of being shown, not hidden.

I grew up in a household where creativity was not just for artistic pursuits but also a critical life skill. Both Mom and Dad were gifted in what they could do with their hands. And they passed it on to their children.

My life, much like my art, is an exploration. Sometimes serious, sometimes playful. My creative spirit and curiosity have been the underlying motive in my engineering, education, and ministry work. Nowadays, my visual and literary art is just another language I speak. When my creative spirit is active and at play, I feel alive and amazed.

I began my artistic endeavors as a 12-year-old when I redeemed 30 dum-dum wrappers for a rudimentary camera and took my first roll of film. Since, I’ve had roles in aerial photography, event and studio work, and university photographer. In later years, I began studying egg tempera and sacred iconography. Nowadays, I’ve branched into an expressionistic visual and literary exploration incorporating many mediums. Much of my visual art is posted to Instagram (@guyeaux_arts)

In life and art, I desire to maintain loose boundaries of inquiry, exploration, imagination, creativity, and service. Striving to be open, honest, and heartfelt with myself and others. And to cooperate in grace, the life-giving Spirit of it all—to take me where it wills.

I am overjoyed in family, fatherhood, and sacred friendship. And most relaxed when the pace of my life is five mph slower than the speed limit.

And, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, …

All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ, for he himself will say: I was a stranger, and you welcomed me (Matt 25:35). Proper honor must be shown to all, especially to those who share our faith (Gal 6:10) and to pilgrims. Rule of St. Benedict, Ch. 53
